Alpha Phi International’s Mission

Alpha Phi International Fraternity is a membership organization dedicated to promoting sisterhood, cultivating leadership, encouraging intellectual curiosity and advocating service. Alpha Phi develops character for a lifetime.

Alpha Phi was founded in 1872 at Syracuse University by ten of the first women to attend the institution.  In the past 138 years, we have become one of the oldest and largest women’s fraternities in North America.  Currently headquartered in Evanston, IL just north of Chicago, our Executive Office is home to both our Fraternity and Foundation staff.   With our sisterhood at 150 universities and growing, we boast chapters from coast to coast.  From UCLA to Cornell, University of Toronto to University of Texas, we span the country. We have more collegiate chapters than any other sorority in California and are represented well at Big 12 schools and have chapters at all Big 10 schools!

Since 2006, Alpha Phi has had an unprecedented period of growth for the Fraternity.  In the last four years alone we have opened chapters at University of Alabama, University of Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Dartmouth College, University of Connecticut, University of Denver and this fall opened at Florida State University.
